Team Carolina goes 5-3 at Warrior Champ Camp

(7/31/05) Baltimore, MD – After going 7-1 at Duke Team Challenge, Team Carolina continued its’ winning ways at Warrior Champ Camp at Johns Hopkins University. Team Carolina posted a 5-3 record at the nation’s premiere team camp as coaches from the nation’s top college programs looked on.

Team Carolina recorded victories against Tri-State (NJ), Central Maryland, Patriots (NJ), Celts (MD), and a 5-4 come from behind win versus All-State (NJ) in their final game. Team Carolina finished in the top 25 out of 64 teams at Champ Camp. Carolina’s losses came against Team Georgia, Mt. St. Joseph’s (MD), and Wolfpack (MD). Team Carolina finished the summer with an overall record of 12-4.

Team Carolina was led by a sturdy defense throughout the tournament, receiving outstanding play from long stick midfielder Mike McGeary (Durham Jordan-2006), defenseman Ben Peretsman (Providence Day-2006) and goaltender Brendan Moore (Providence High-2006). Attackmen Joe Howard (Durham Jordan-2006) and Colin Sherwood (Greensboro Grimsley-2006) and midfielders Tony Mendes (East Chapel Hill-2007) and Mike Hutchings (Durham Academy-2006) sparked Carolina’s offense. Howard and Sherwood posted 19 and 15 points respectively, while Hutchings and Mendes tallied 9 and 8 points respectively.

Team Long Island won the Warrior Champ Camp tournament after a convincing 7-2 championship victory over Duke’s Lacrosse Club (PA).
