CHARLOTTE, N.C., October, 24, 2005 - Taylor Wray, the assistant coach at Queens University of Charlotte, was recently selected to the Canadian National Lacrosse team. Wray was at the final 50 tryout October 5-8 where the final selections were made. He will represent Canada in this summer's World Lacrosse Games. Like the Olympics, the World Games are once every 4 years. In 2002 Canada had won the silver with the US taking the Gold. This will be the second time that Taylor has represented his country. He had previously been named to the 19-under team which also took Silver in those games. Taylor is a 2003 graduate of Duke where he was team captain and helped lead them to the playoffs twice and two ACC championships and was named their 2003 Defensive player of the year. Wray, who is in his 3rd year at Queens, helped lead the Royals to a second place finish in the conference as well as the south region in just their second year? Wray also plays in the pro- Indoor lacrosse league (the NLL) where he will be entering his 3rd season for the Calgary Roughnecks. As a rookie he helped lead the Roughnecks to their first NLL championship while also being named Rookie of the year, 1st team all pro and co-defensive player of the year."There is no greater honor in sports that being able to represent your country at an international competition. I feel particularly fortunate to have made Team Canada this year because there was such a strong field of players trying out. Being the home team at the World Championships in London, Ont. next summer is going to be an experience I will remember for the rest of my life."
